Destinations for Your First 2018 Road Trip - December 26, 2017

Planning a road trip takes some time. Not only do you need to make reservations, but you have to get your house ready to be left alone for a week or two and you have to get your vehicle in shape to make the road trip. Make an appointment at Superior Hyundai of Beavercreek for about a week before you head out. You'll want to have your vehicle checked, and should any maintenance become due during your vacation, you'll want to do it before you leave.

Door County, Wisconsin

Visit the Cana Island Lighthouse in Bailey's Harbor to get some great pictures of the views of Lake Michigan's shoreline. The rock ledge shore is perfect for taking pictures of the lighthouse, which was built in the 1870s. One of the traditions is to stack some stones and leave a little statue behind. Enjoy the cherry stands along the roadside, visit some of the small towns in the area, and be sure to visit the state parks. And, just south of Fish Creek, enjoy the Peninsula Players' outdoor productions.

Hocking Hills, Ohio

Head out to Hocking Hills, Ohio, to visit Appalachia and Hocking Hills State Park. Look for Ash Cave, a 90-foot high rock shelf, bike the 17-mile bikeway that starts in Nelsonville and ends in Athens, float in a tube down the Hocking River or take a zip-line canopy tour.

Old Mission Peninsula, Michigan

Old Mission Peninsula has seven wineries to visit. The 20-mile peninsula, which is just north of Traverse City not only gives you plenty of wine to taste, but the Grand Traverse Bay on Lake Michigan is bluer than blue and makes for a great photo op!
